Members of the sports department of UD Las Palmas, Tanausú García (scouting and technology department) and José Igner (individual development department), recently had the opportunity to visit the facilities of Aston Villa FC, a Premier League club based in Birmingham, with the aim of firsthand understanding the sports and playing methodology of the English club.
During the visit, the members of the yellow entity had the opportunity to have different meetings with Monchi, sports director, Unai Emery, coach, as well as the members of the technical staff Javi García, goalkeeper coach, Pablo Villanueva, Emery's assistant, and Víctor Mañas, analyst, who highlighted the importance they give to DDI, with work to improve the player with up to three specialists on the field, as well as to understand the preparation of set-piece actions, their study, preparation, and execution, and Monchi's method to assemble the squad and organize the scouting methodology.
The stay at Aston Villa concluded with attending two training sessions (pre-match and post-match), as well as the match against Sheffield United, decided by 0-5 in favor of the Birmingham team.
UD Las Palmas thanks Aston Villa, as well as its entire sports staff, for the excellent welcome and treatment received, especially to José Manuel Rodríguez Calvo, specialist analyst in set-piece actions, who was already with José Igner and Tanausú García in the base football categories of the yellow entity.
