Campaña: "I came here to relive my second youth, feel like a footballer, and enjoy the minutes that injuries took away from me."

The UD Las Palmas midfielder spoke to the media on Thursday morning at the Barranco Seco Sports Complex to analyze the Matchday 17 clash of LALIGA EA SPORTS against Real Sociedad.

Campaña highlighted to the media the good run of form that Diego Martínez’s side is enjoying and acknowledged the importance of maintaining the same humility to continue on the path of positive results. He emphasized that he is very happy with the team's daily work, which they are able to showcase on matchdays — when it matters most.

He also analyzed the opponent, pointing out that "They are a team that has been doing things well for several years. They work very well with their academy and have taken a step forward in recent years by qualifying for European competitions."

The player also spoke about his personal situation. He is very happy with his consistency and good performances, stating: "I came here to relive my second youth, feel like a footballer, and enjoy the minutes that injuries took away from me. I’m playing more since the manager arrived, and I’m contributing to the team with what I bring to the table." He added: "Every player needs time to adapt, but for me, it was quite easy. My teammates, the club staff, and the fans on the street have supported and shown me love from the moment I arrived".

Campaña also spoke about the changes in the team's playing style since Diego Martínez's arrival: "Since Diego arrived, we've been blending possession-based football with a more direct approach. The whole squad has adapted well, and it's paying off. I came from a team with a similar playing style, and my game is characterized by composure and calmness on the ball. But when we see weaknesses or open spaces, we take advantage of them".

On his mental approach and playing time, he commented: "Mentally, not much has changed for me. It’s true that with Luis (previous manager), I didn’t get as much game time, but I always did my job without complaint. At the end of the day, only 11 can play. Now, with Diego, I’m getting more minutes and feel more confident. The only real change is that I’m playing more now than at the start of the season".

Looking ahead to the game against Real Sociedad, he analyzed the opponent's style of play: "Every weekend, you face a different opponent with a different style. You can’t attack or defend against them all in the same way. We know Real Sociedad likes to press high and keep possession. We have to stay true to our style and take advantage of the spaces they leave behind".

He also reflected on the mindset the team needs to approach the match: "Since Diego’s arrival, we’ve stayed humble, and it’s working. We have to approach this match with that same humility. Real Sociedad has a very complete squad, especially in midfield, where they have high-level players who, despite their young age, have been playing together for several years. We’re expecting a tough match".

Finally, Campaña spoke about the importance of focusing on their own progress rather than the league table: "Diego has always told us not to focus on the league table, and I’ve never paid much attention to it in previous seasons either. I’m not one of those players who looks at the table. If we win at the Reale Arena, we can surpass 20 points".
