Diego Martínez addressed the media gathered in the press room at the Estadio Gran Canaria ahead of the match against RCD Espanyol. He noted that, "Obviously, it’s a game we understand will be difficult because of the need to earn points to ensure survival. The opponent has very fast players with a strong counter-attack. It’s a game that will demand the best of us." For this reason, he highlighted that, "We need the fans to compete alongside the team with that passion and conviction they always show us."

These were some of his statements:

"Espanyol is a team that counter-attacks very well with fast players. We need patience and rhythm in ball movement. We’ll have to know when to go deep and when to deliver a quality pass. We must be cautious and avoid transitions because they are dangerous on the counter."

"When you earn points, you gain more confidence, and with confidence comes more joy. Respect is earned game by game. What matters is our performance in both penalty areas. The important thing is to finish the season with the respect of having stayed in the top flight. Each week is a test, and the more points and confidence you have, the more secure the team feels."

"We’re grateful to the fans who are always with us. They’re very important to us. We need them to compete alongside the team with the passion and conviction they always show."

"Every match is special, especially when you return to a place where you’ve had the privilege to compete. These are experiences, lessons, and relationships with people I still have a good connection with."

"It’s going to be a tight game because of the stakes. A very complex but exciting match."

On Moleiro’s condition:"We always listen to the player’s opinion. The clinical assessment and the player’s perspective are very important. We don’t know if he’ll be available or when he’ll be ready. We’ll have to weigh the risks."

On Mika's versatility:"Mika is a versatile player who, like others, can play in different positions. He can perform at a high level and gives us options. His understanding of the game and his willingness are vital for the team and for football."

On the team's focus:"We want to get the maximum points possible. The team has earned the right to compete for the three points. The next match is always the most important. We have to stay focused and fight against distractions, which is why the support from the crowd is so crucial in driving the team forward."
