UD Las Palmas concluded their preseason with a noteworthy 0-0 draw against Liverpool FC, in a match that served as a final test before the start of the 2024-25 season. The eighth friendly was an opportunity to assess player fitness, the understanding of the tactical system, and Scott McKenna’s first minutes in a Las Palmas shirt.

Las Palmas approached the match confidently, establishing their presence in Liverpool’s half from the outset. Moleiro was the first to test the goalkeeper, firing twice in the first 10 minutes, though neither effort managed to beat the defense or keeper Kelleher.

The game balanced out as it progressed, with Gakpo also having a good chance. His attempt was thwarted by Cillessen, who made a save on the striker’s shot at the 15-minute mark.

Luis Carrión’s side caused concern for their opponents with a set-piece from a corner. Alex Suárez’s shot was cleared off the line by Kelleher, denying the Gran Canaria player a goal. Although there were no goals on the scoreboard, the play was executed with precision.

The first half ended goalless, with both teams sharing possession and chances in the empty stands of Anfield Road.

The second half followed similar patterns, with a notable strike hitting the crossbar. Elliott’s powerful shot struck Cillessen’s post.

Cillessen had more to do in the second half, especially after a flurry of substitutions past the hour mark. Liverpool pushed for a goal, forcing Las Palmas into a defensive stance, but they could not break the deadlock.

The best chance of the match fell to Las Palmas. Kirian found Benito, who delivered a precise ball into the area. However, Iván Gil missed the opportunity to score with just 3 minutes remaining.
