With a total of up to seven changes in the starting lineup compared to the previous date, García Pimienta offered the most updated lineup of the season. From the original picture of El Alcoraz, only the goalkeeper Valles, defender Coco, midfielder Nuke Mfulu, and captain Jonathan Viera were still there.

Las Palmas went onto the Gran Canarian pitch to answer all of the defensive formulas that Burgos CF had set for them, who came on the island with a total of eleven clean sheet games under their belt.

The predictions came true right away: Las Palmas again planned their offensive moves while their opponent waited to launch a counterattack. Following a side foul that Atienza converted, Burgos gave notice after 10 minutes. Valles saved the goal by deflecting the ball.

The local players slowly adopted the strategy. Benito's goal was disallowed by the referee for being a millimeter offside after storming into the box and connecting with Pejiño. In the game's 19th minute, Las Palmas had a more determined presence in the area.

In the 26th minute, following a shot by Sandro and an attack including several passes from Gran Canarian players, Caro showed his reflexes. Las Palmas wanted to increase the ball's pace as they relentlessly looked for openings in the defense of the opposing squad.

The standards were maintained until the break, with Sandro getting another chance after 43 minutes of play. His low attempt was blocked once more by goalie Caro's foot near to the post.

Marvin Park's injury just before the break was a setback, leading to his desire for a change in the coaching staff for the yellow team Alvaro Lemos took over for the following 45 minutes in his stead.

Las Palmas' plans were altered during the match when Burgos took advantage of one of their counterattacks to take the lead. Curro Sánchez scored after hitting the crossbar before entering Valles' goal.

In the 75th minute, the local crossbar again denied Atienza a second chance before Las Palmas began their last offensives in pursuit of at least a draw. García Pimienta's squad took a lot of risks, abandoning defensive positions.

Caro deflected many balls and generated a dispute in the 84th minute with a goal disallowed by Marc Cardona. It would have resulted in a draw. However, the referee pointed out a previous foul (against Moleiro) and stopped the play in which the yellow striker beat Caro.

Burgos' second goal came in extra time.
