UD says goodbye to 2022 at home with a defeat (1-2)

The 2022 farewell celebration at home did not go as planned. On an unfortunate night in general, UD Las Palmas fell 1-2 to Albacete on Sunday. Because, in addition to the negative outcome, Vitolo Machín was only able to play for a few minutes due to an in

UD Las Palmas found themselves in an unexpected situation at the Estadio de Gran Canaria in the 140th minute of the match. Albacete had grabbed the lead on the scoreboard with a shot from Manu Fuster that had to be confirmed by the VAR due to concerns over the attacker's position. The La Mancha side had quickly broken the 0-0 draw, however Alex Suárez had to cancel a counterattack that Fuster was attempting to certify.

That scoreboard defeat was yet another blow for the yellow plans, who approached the game with a handful of injuries in the squad that García Pimienta was able to put together for the occasion. Las Palmas attempted to balance the game right away, putting themselves in risky positions against an opponent who was sheltering themselves in their own half with enough players.

The roads to Bernabé's goal were not easy. In the 22nd minute, Oscar Clemente was able to stand up to the visiting goalie, but his shot was blocked with his legs. Following, Mfulu, Moleiro, Marc Cardona, and Pejiño fired shots. However, the long-awaited canary goal did not materialise.

Saúl Coco tried it in the 39th minute, headed wide from a corner in a practised motion. However, the score of 0-1 stayed unchanged during the match's break.

The second part began with two crucial UD Las Palmas match events. On the one hand, Vitolo Machín requested the substitution owing to an injury barely three minutes after joining the game. He suffered and left the pitch in tears, cheered on by the 17,415 fans. On the other side, Pejiño's equalising goal eventually arrived. Alberto Moleiro nearly completed the play with a run from midfield and aid to his teammate, who finished with accuracy to draw the game even at one.

There were 40 minutes remaining in the game, and the setting had changed little. Las Palmas kept pushing, and it was Enrique Clemente, who had been brought to the front, who had a fantastic chance in the 75th minute. Bernabé replied to defender Mao's kick with his tenth save of the night, demonstrating quick reactions.

However, Albacete scored the night's last goal. The play began with a counter, but was called off in the area due to a foul by Coco. Maikel Mesa took the penalty, and Alex Dominguez saved two shots from the former yellow player. But the third, Higinio's effort, wound up in the netting, taking the three points with it.
