Las Palmas’ Foundation joins the growing number of electronic sports programmes in Spain, with the launch of its eSports section, an exciting and creative project which takes its first steps with the creation of the UDLP Gaming Community.
Displaying its commitment to education and the defence of values in the field of sporting activities, UD Las Palmas aspires to use eSports to harness education and experience sharing, especially among the younger generations.
Milagros Luis Brito, the project coordinator for the UD Las Palmas Foundation, referred to the UDLP Gaming Community by saying "we would like it to be far-reaching, integrating, diverse and for everyone, a community that would form part of the vision, mission and commitment that our Foundation manages and supports".
The eSports section indeed is already up and running for fans and gamers on the club’s official website. Fans can access the programme at esports.udlaspalmas.es, where they can see first hand the philosophy, objectives and commitment of the community in a competitive digital environment, built upon foundations of respect, courtesy, creativity and the defence of healthy habits.
During December the UD Las Palmas Foundation will give fans the chance to sign up free of charge to the community. From 1st January onwards, subscription will still be open to fans, with a single joining fee of just 10€.
Subscribers at the Gaming Community will have access to online tournaments, breaking news, talks and prizes. This initiative, which goes beyond the simple use of technology, handling video games and digital competitions, looks to build a dynamic community that can serve as training and access for future teams at the eSports Section.
Activities highlighted this month by the UD Las Palmas Foundation include a debate forum they are looking to hold, entitled 'eSports: Educational challenges and social innovation', on 12th and 13th.
