UD Las Palmas are on a week’s season build up in England. The expedition arrived today at the St George's Park National Football Centre around 16.00 following a long trip, including a stop-off at Barcelona, to Manchester, to then take the coach trip to the Staffordshire town of Burton-upon-Trent, on the outskirts of Birmingham. The team will be setting up base at the Hilton Hotel.

Manolo Jiménez has taken a total of 26 players on this expedition to England. The list of players includes Raúl Fernández,  Vicente Gómez, David García, Cala, Rubén Castro, Rafa Mir, Sergio Araujo, Momo, Álvaro Lemos, Nauzet Pérez, Deivid, Fidel, Bigas, Javi Castellano, Mantovani, Benito, Dani Castellano, Tana, Erik Expósito, Fabio, Álex Suárez, Josep Martínez, Eric Curbelo, Edu Espiau, Josemi and Diego Parras. This evening, at 18.30 they are due to have their first training session on training pitch 12. 

St George's Park National Football Centre is the training centre for the national England squad, and is the hub of the country’s football organizers, for the training of managers, the organization of events, and the training centre for all levels of the national football team. 

Las Palmas have been to several different foreign destinations for pre-season training during their history, including Mexico, Hungary and Portugal. More recently they have been to Denmark, in the 97/98 season, under manager García Remón, at the town of Rodekro, on the border with northern Germany, a two-hour drive from the city of Hamburg.

In the 2002/2003 season, they spent 23 days on tour around Sweden, in the city of Skövde, a couple of hours from Göteborg. Yosu Uribe and Verona were the managers at the time.  

In the 2006/2007, with Carlos Sánchez Aguiar as their manager, UD Las Palmas traveled to the German city of Höckendorf (30 kilometres from Dresden).

FRIENDLIES AGAINST BIRMINGHAM AND LEEDS UNITED

UD Las Palmas will play two friendlies against two teams from the Championship. The first of these is this on Friday at 15.00 against Birmingham City, at the St George's Park National Football Centre. Then the following Friday they will travel to Elland Road to take on Leeds United, managed by Marcelo Bielsa. Both games will be broadcast live by UDRADIO and Televisión Canaria.
