Diego Martínez: "We have to play our game, believe in our chances and in our strengths."
The Las Palmas coach emphasized that the match against Atlético is “a game against one of the best teams in LaLiga and in Europe. We have seven games left, and each one is an opportunity to get three points.”
Diego Martínez spoke at a press conference this Friday, ahead of the match against Atlético de Madrid, which will take place tomorrow at the Estadio Gran Canaria. “We all want to win the next match. The only thing we can focus on is the present. Obviously, it’s a game against one of the best teams — when they’re playing well, they’re very tough, and even when they’re not, they still demand your best,” he said about the visitors.
Here are some of his other comments:
“I see the team as ready, confident, and happy after getting three points against Getafe. The players — and the team as a whole — needed that boost to their belief, and the points are what reinforce that.”
“It’s a game that should excite us all. I hope we can give the fans reasons to believe. The other day in Getafe was a beautiful moment, and I hope tomorrow we can play our best possible match and win.”
“Every match tells a different story. Atlético has many tools, they have quick players. We have to focus on playing our game, believing in our chances and using our strengths.”
“Simeone is one of the greatest managers in football history. it’s hard to highlight just one thing. He’s managed over 700 games with Atlético Madrid and has a win percentage over 60%, which says a lot.”
