The 1st annual UD Las Palmas Campus arrives on the island of El Hierro. Activities will kick off on 23rd July for the boys and girls aged between 5 and 14. The plenary hall at the Town Hall of Valverde featured Daniel Morales, the mayor of Valverde, David Pérez, sports councilor, Yeray Sánchez, the UDLP School development director, and Paquito Ortiz, the ex- UD Las Palmas footballer.
Mayor Daniel Morales pointed out "for the municipality of Valverde it is important to have such a relevant activity as this UD Las Palmas football campus for the islands". Likewise, councilor David Pérez said he felt "highly satisfied" by the great following the first campus has generated and for the "large number of inscriptions" that have poured in, making him sure that this first year’s experience will be a resounding success in terms of participation numbers. Meanwhile, Yeray Sánchez thanked the municipality of Valverde for "all the facilities that they have made available to be able to organise this 1st annual Campus". Finally, Paquito Ortiz underlined all the "values" that football represents for children at this age.
The UDLP Campus has its own teaching methodology, developed over a period of 12 years, and which will be taught by specialist staff at the yellows’ youth training school. All information related to this 1st annual Campus can be obtained through UD Las Palmas’ official website. As is most fitting, thanks go to the Town Hall of Valverde, and participating companies Ahembo (PEPSI Max) and Volkswagen Canarias, as thanks to their efforts the dream of taking the UDLP Campus to the island of El Hierro has become a reality.
