Paco Herrera: "This is a vital game for us"
"This game is vital for both teams, them for how they are coming into the match, and for us to continue to show our recent improvement", responded Paco Herrera in the press room at the Estadio Gran Canaria before leaving for the league clash against Córdo
Paco Herrera recognised both teams need to earn victory, for different reasons, "they need to start climbing the table while we need to demonstrate that the team is continuing to improve", while adding he has noticed "an important change in attitude" in his squad.
Of his rivals, he said "they are a great side with a great trainer. They are hard to beat and their league position is quite deceiving". The yellows' manager will have David García at his disposal after the League Committee cancelled his second yellow card last week, and he stressed "he is a highly important player for this team". Referring to refereeing decisions, the Las Palmas manager stated "these errors happen, and I am not going to start complaining about our referees".
Goalkeeper Nauzet Pérez is out through injury, and stays on the island: "He is in discomfort in his abductor muscle, but he already had pain in his knee. He is clear, and I fully back him, that this rest is going to speed up his recovery. Josep will be travelling with us"
With the upcoming winter transfer window, the manager continues to rely on his own players, and if they need to strengthen the squad "they will be drafted in from the second team", he stressed.
