Luis Carrión: "The first half was far from good, I’m confident it won’t happen again"

Luis Carrión spoke in the post-match press conference after the game against Athletic Club, admitting, "Today we leave with a bitter feeling about what happened. The danger they created was something we should have handled much better. We lacked energy."

There are no reactions yet. Be the first!

Speaking in the press room at the Estadio Gran Canaria, the Las Palmas coach firmly stated, "We had the worst first half of the entire season. We lacked energy and the drive to show we could push forward."

"In life, bad things can happen, but you can never hang your head," Carrión continued. "It will happen again; opponents will take the lead, but we have to keep going."

He highlighted the mental aspect of the game: "It all comes down to mentality. If you have a goal and believe in it, you fight for it. The game didn’t go as we wanted at the start, we weren’t controlling the ball. It won’t always go our way." However, he assured, "That will change, I’m convinced."

Carrión also addressed the fans, saying, "Their reaction was understandable. We were poor in every aspect—transitions, duels—we weren’t winning anything, and that reflects in the stands. I’d probably be just as frustrated if I were up there watching." He concluded, "After we conceded the third goal, the game slipped away from us again. We have the potential to do much better."
