Luis Carrión: "Against teams that create duels and second-ball situations, you also have to fight"
Luis Carrión noted that the team "had more possession in the first half, but when we overcame the pressure, we weren’t vertical enough, and when we lost the ball, their goals came."
Carrión spoke in the press room at Estadio Mendizorroza after UD Las Palmas' defeat to Deportivo Alavés. The yellow coach began his comments by analyzing the game: "In the first half, we had more of the ball, but when we got past their pressure, we didn’t manage to be vertical enough. When we lost possession, their goals came, including one that was disallowed."
"I understand that we might have wanted to keep more of the ball to tire out the opponent, but I don’t think that’s the way forward despite it being a balanced first half. In the second half, we couldn’t find our rhythm, and the duels were too easy for them," added the yellow coach, who also mentioned that "Alavés is a very good team with players prepared for second-ball situations. We did well in building up from the back, but we need to try to attack, and we weren’t able to."
Regarding new signings: "We will have more profiles to work within the team. I’d love to play the next game already; we need to be strong and ensure that good performances are not only against teams that leave us space." "Against teams that create duels and second-ball situations, you also have to fight," he added.
