García Pimienta made five changes to the starting lineup as UD Las Palmas faced the surprise package of the season in La Liga. The inclusion of Sinkgraven on the left side of defense was perhaps the most notable change.
UD Las Palmas started the game with determination, aiming to stifle Girona's play from the outset. Early on, the yellow team threatened the Girona goal, even having a chance to take the lead.
At the 5th minute, Moleiro was brought down in the box by David López, resulting in a penalty that Gazzaniga saved after Sandro's shot was blocked. However, David López capitalized on the rebound to score Girona's opener.
The goal affected UD Las Palmas, who struggled to create chances for the remainder of the first half. Gazzaniga was rarely tested until halftime.
The second half began with another penalty awarded against UD Las Palmas. Despite protests, Dovbyk converted to double Girona's lead.
Although UD Las Palmas made substitutions to rejuvenate the team, they couldn't find a breakthrough. Their best chance, a shot by Moleiro, hit the crossbar in the 84th minute.
UD Las Palmas continued to push until the final whistle, with Benito and Munir having late chances, but they couldn't reduce the deficit against Girona.
