Las Palmas gets back into the match and conquers the XXX Ciudad de La Línea Trophy (1-2)

UD Las Palmas ended its stage and Andalusian pre-season with his second friendly game of the week. The "yellow" team measured itself against to La Balompédica Linense today at the La Línea Stadium, a match framed in the XXX Ciudad de la Línea Trophy, tournament that had not been played in the last fifteen years.

Manolo Márquez lined-up at the beginning in La Línea with; Macedo, David García, Ximo Navarro, Borja, Aythami, Tana, Boateng, Benito, Toledo y Expósito. In the other side, the home team, coached by Julio Cobos, started the game with Montoya; Sergio, Olmo, Joe, Madrigal, Abenza, Chico, Molina, Gato, José Ramón y Stoichkov.

The comeback of the prestigious summer tournament ended up with an appealing game between the “yellows” and “la balona”. The UD overcome his rival in the first minutes of the match, with several occasions in a row; the clearest one by a Tana´s kick that crashed against the pole. Before, the home team gave a warning, forcing Chichizola to show his best with a superb block under the poles.

Las Palmas kept trying, but the Linense, in the minute 35, hit first with a goal scored by Gato. The forward did not miss. In the second half, and just like in the previous match against Besiktas, Manolo Marquez only changed goalies: Raúl in the place of Chichizola. By the first hour of the match, the yellow trainer finnaly switched all the field players at once and leaving on the grass an eleven composed by Raúl; Simón, Bigas, Lemos, Dani, Javi Castellano, Fabio, Jonathan Viera, Vitolo, Halilovic y Calleri.

Las Palmas considerably improved its game with the change and that lead to the pressure and defeat over the home team goal. In the Minute 72, Halilovic signed an spectacular goal from outside of the penalty area setting a tie in the score. Four minutes later, Lemos kicked into the net with his heel a Fabio´s shoot. The resource of the uruguayan -in a legal position- allowed the Marquez´s boys to overcome the match, win the game and take to Gran Canaria the so-called “Ensaladera” of this prestigious summer Trophy. This way UD Las Palmas ended his four day stage in the Costa del Sol preparing themselves for the start of Laliga. The yellow faces now the last weeks of the pre-season with several games to play. The Mahou Cup against CD Tenerife, August, 2nd in Tenerife and in the 8th in Gran Canaria. Finally, the UD Las Palmas will participate in the Carranza Trophy against Cadiz the next August, 11th, starting at 18:30.
