UD Pays Dearly for a Poor First Half in Mallorca (3-1)

A new away defeat, this time against Mallorca (3-1). UD Las Palmas' poor first half conditioned the match, allowing their opponent to seal the victory within the first 34 minutes with two goals from Muriqi and another from Dani Rodríguez. Las Palmas fought back, changed their system, and pulled one back through Bajcetic, but despite exhausting their energy in Mallorca, they couldn’t complete the comeback.

The match started poorly for UD Las Palmas. The first two chances fell their way but didn’t end in their favor. In the 2nd minute, Javi Muñoz received a deep pass from McBurnie, but his shot was saved by goalkeeper Greif. It was a clear opportunity, but the midfielder's strike failed to beat the last line of defense. However, just four minutes later, Mallorca took the lead with a Muriqi header that Cillessen couldn’t keep out.

Las Palmas once again found themselves trailing despite not deserving such an early setback. The game remained balanced for a few minutes, but things worsened before the half-hour mark when Muriqi doubled the lead with a low shot that slipped under Cillessen.

The visitors' defensive struggles intensified almost immediately. In the 34th minute, a clearance from Bajcetic landed at the feet of Dani Rodríguez, who struck a precise shot into the bottom corner to make it 3-0.

Coach Diego Martínez looked for solutions from the bench, adjusting the defense to a five-man line by bringing on left-footer Benito. However, Mallorca continued to threaten, with Cillessen denying another Muriqi header that was aimed either at goal or as an assist for Asano.

Muriqi created the first real chance of the second half, hitting the post in the 54th minute. But the next goal went to Las Palmas, as Viti set up Bajcetic, who finished brilliantly with a first-time shot beyond Greif.

The visitors grew in confidence and kept attacking. Moleiro came close to making it 3-2, but his effort brushed past the post. The battle continued until the 96th minute, but the final result remained unchanged, and Mallorca took all three points.
