Fede Varela comes to UD Las Palmas on loan deal
UD Las Palmas and CD Leganés today agreed on a loan deal that will bring midfielder Fede Varela to the island until the end of the season. The Argentine-born player, who has played his football at Celta de Vigo and FC Porto, arrives in Gran Canaria this
Fede Varela is now a Las Palmas player until 30th June, following the deal struck between the two clubs and the player. 23-year-old Varela was born in Argentina on 7th May 1996, but learned his footballing trade in European teams, and is currently with CD Leganés. He has a Spanish passport, and has played academy football at both Celta de Vigo and FC Porto.
In the 2014-2015 he played for Swiss second division outfit Stade Nyonnais. FC Porto bought him for their second string side where he played 70 games and scored 16 goals. He was then loaned to fellow Portuguese team Portimonense, before last season moving to Rayo Majadahonda. Varela scored the first goal for the Madrid side in last year’s Spanish Cup match against UD Las Palmas at the Estadio Gran Canaria (1-2). This summer CD Leganés signed Varela up.
The player flew to Gran Canaria at 22.30 from Madrid. He will be unveiled at 10.00 at the club’s Ciudad Deportiva training centre before joining the squad for his first training session.
