Diego Martínez: "It's important to be a team in capital letters, in good times and bad."
The UD Las Palmas coach analyzed the upcoming Matchday 21 clash in LaLiga EA SPORTS and stated, "When we’ve been solid defensively and with the ball, we’ve been comfortable. Even without the ball, we’ve shown our talent, our best version."
Diego Martínez spoke to the media gathered in the press room at the Gran Canaria Stadium ahead of the match against CA Osasuna. He noted, "Osasuna has 26 points after a strong first half of the season. They have a striker like Budimir who is in great form. They’re a tough opponent, coming off a win in Bilbao. They’re a strong team." He emphasized, "We want to win every match, but we are UD Las Palmas. When we are accurate and better than our opponent, we can win."
Here are some of his key statements:
"Osasuna is established in the First Division; they are a benchmark of stability. As a club, they are an example for us in that sense. What concerns me more is what we are capable of doing. When we’ve worked together in attack and defense, when we’ve been effective in both areas as we’ve shown in previous matches, we are a good team. When we do what’s needed to compete, that’s when we’re at our best. When we don’t, problems arise."
"There’s never been a coach factor. There’s been a team. But it’s true we’ve lost the last two league games—one due to missing a penalty at home, and the other at the Bernabéu."
"Kirian is our captain, and we’re thrilled with him. Players go through periods of peak performance and others when they don’t. Sometimes individual performances are unfairly tied to results. He’s a symbol for this club. We need him a lot, and at his best."
"It’s in our hands not to get carried away by drama. Zero emotional hangovers. This team has to look forward with excitement, without forgetting who we are, of course."
