Speaking to the media in the press room at Estadio Gran Canaria ahead of their match against Villarreal CF, Diego Martínez began by stating, "Kirian is someone admirable, loved, and respected in the locker room. We want him to return in June and find the team in an even better place than when he left. He has our full support—we will fight for victories and achieve the club’s goal. This is a battle for everyone: the club, the fans, his teammates, friends, the coaching staff… we all admire him."
Regarding tomorrow's match, he highlighted, "We need to be effective in both penalty areas—that will be key. It will also be a game where we must compete together, players and fans alike. We must be as united as possible to secure the three points we want."
Here are some of his other statements:
"We are happy with Bajcetic’s adaptation. The midfield position has been challenging since Christmas due to suspensions and injuries, but he will help us. I appreciate the commitment he showed the other day in a difficult game. We need everyone to give their all at all times. Our belief and our hope lie in the team as a whole, because that is what sustains everything. The team is what ultimately achieves the season's objectives."
"My greatest wish is to have Kirian back, because that would mean he no longer has the illness. Everything else is part of the club’s regulations and policies, and I’m not focused on that. Those of us who are here are fully committed in every training session, striving to improve. Hopefully, we can regain some stability regarding injured and suspended players. The team as a whole must give us belief, hope, and conviction. We all have to serve the team."
"Even though this has been a very tough week, I have seen some beautiful gestures in the locker room, ones that go beyond football. Coaches and players have lives outside the game. How wonderful it would be to dedicate tomorrow’s victory to him. There are a thousand things in life, but health is the most important."
"This week, I have seen that we have great human quality and an incredible level of commitment. Hopefully, we can channel that into results sooner rather than later. The coach is here like a lion, like a warrior, ready to face whatever comes our way."
"Kirian is irreplaceable, but we will have to find new paths and solutions. We must also draw strength from the charisma he brings us."
