Diego Martínez was presented this afternoon to the media gathered at the Barranco Seco facilities. The new "yellow" coach was accompanied by Luis Helguera, the club's sporting director.

The coach began the press conference by stating, “I am excited and motivated. With a positive attitude, we can turn things around and secure survival by matchday 38. Modern football is about teams knowing how to adapt to different systems. But if victories come with just one approach, we’ll stick to that system.”

Some of his statements:

“Life is about projects and challenges. Las Palmas is a great club, and I’m attracted to challenges in capital letters. That’s what brought me here. We have the ability, talent, and many good things. Together, we can achieve this. We want to be a positive team.”

“Coaches aren’t like Federer or Nadal; we have to make the most of what we have. What brought me here is the essence of this club. We need to find the best version of ourselves as a team. We also need to find the best way for the new players to help us win matches. The players are the ones competing. I don’t give names. We’re an adaptive, chameleon-like coaching staff with tactical variety.”

“Hopefully, with the ball, we’ll be able to hurt the opposition in their area, but we need to be strong defensively when we don’t have it. Right now, we need to recover our confidence, which is very difficult. When we win, everyone looks better. But even when you’re winning, things can still be done poorly.”

“I’m going to look forward; we need to focus on improving things that are obvious. I’m convinced the previous coaching staff tried. We will look for other ways to try to earn points. Sports are unpredictable, sometimes an emotional spark can make the team feel strong, and suddenly everything changes.”
