Carrión: "We created too much to leave with just one goal"
Luis Carrión commented, "Overall, everyone contributed in the match. I don’t think there’s any player you could say had a bad performance. But I believe that with very little, the opponent still managed to score against us."
Speaking to the press in the media room at El Sadar Stadium, the coach reflected, "This has been our best away game so far. We created quite a few chances today. In the first half, we had clear opportunities before the 1-0. We didn’t lose our composure after the penalty and managed to equalize. We came out well in the second half, although without finishing things off."
Some of his key statements:
“But we were too exposed after losing the ball. That frustrates me. We have to keep working. The team did some things well, but we need to keep improving to get the wins we want.”
“When I review the match, I’ll see more things done right than in previous games. But it’s still zero points because of an isolated incident. We need to be more effective up front because the game changes if we take the lead. And most importantly, we need to avoid that feeling of danger every time we lose the ball.”
“Essugo was tired because he hadn’t played in a while. Marvin felt a sharp pain in his hamstring, and we’ll know how long he’s out after tests. As for Mika Mármol, during the penalty incident, he got stepped on and couldn’t walk. We’ll see tomorrow what the issue is.”
“The second goal was a good play by the opponent, but it came from our own mistake. It’s something we worked on this week. After losing possession, we needed to stop play and get organized.”
