Carrión: "It seems we've forgotten to enjoy the journey. The more you think about how long it's been since we won, the harder it becomes to win"
Ahead of the match against CA Osasuna, Luis Carrión remarked, "Offensively, we've done quite well, but in some games, we've shown a sense of defensive fragility. We need to improve on that."
Speaking on Friday at the Ciudad Deportiva press room, Carrión added, "We need to feel that we're doing things right. We've shown that when we concede a goal, we're capable of bouncing back. Right now, each player has enough tools to avoid struggling on the field."
Some of his key statements were:
"We've worked on a lot of the things we’ve done poorly, aiming to do them more consistently so there's not such a big difference between good and bad performances. We’ve worked on defensive situations, and I hope things go well on Saturday."
"The only player unavailable is Álex Suárez, everyone else is fit. Morale should be good, because although we had a rough patch (in the first half) of the last game, morale shouldn’t be low. Sure, we might be happier or sadder, but morale should remain strong."
"Mental focus is the most important thing, and I've emphasized situations in the game where we need to avoid getting frustrated."
"In our league, everyone's in the same situation. I understand that the weight of not having won in a while is heavy, but I don't get it. Every week, we have the chance to change that dynamic. We need to win, but we also need to enjoy the journey and feel that we're doing things the right way."
