UD Las Palmas sign winger Jairo from German team Mainz 05
Jairo Samperio (born on 11th July 1993, in Cabezón de la Sal, Cantabria), is the latest player to join UD las Palmas to strengthen their attack. He arrives on a free transfer from Mainz 05 from the German Bundesliga and has signed with the yellows until 3
Jairo started his playing career at Racing de Santander. He is a quick, skilfull winger who can play on both sides of the park. Over the last few seasons he has been plying his trade at German side Mainz 05. He made his first division debut in 2011 against Valencia in Mestalla, while he gained great accolades against Real Madrid in El Sardinero. From that moment on, although he was signed to the second team, he began to feature regularly in Santander’s first team.
A couple of injuries dogged his progress in the 2011-2012 season, but the following year, when Santander were relegated, the player stayed on and was a regular in their starting line-up, being one of the team’s star performers. On 21st June 2013, Sevilla Fútbol Club signed him on for two and a half million euros. On 29th August 2014 he signed a four year contract with Mainz 05.
Jairo landed this evening in Gran Canaria from Madrid at 21.50, and once he has passed the club medical at the Hospital Perpetuo Socorro, he will be officially unfurled as a Las Palmas player at 13.00, in the press room at El Hornillo Sports Complex.
